Wesway

Respite Worker

Wesway is seeking several energetic and responsible people to provide respite care for families.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized support to children, adults and/or seniors who have a disability or chronic health condition, while giving their family caregivers a much needed break
  • Work in the family's home or out in the community
  • Fulfill the care and support responsibilities usually performed by the family caregiver, according to the needs, abilities and preferences of the individual

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience supporting people with a disability or chronic health condition (employment, education, volunteer or personal life experience)
  • Positive attitude and dependability
  • Respect for each individual's strengths, abilities and personal choice
  • Current CPR and First Aid certificates (or willingness to obtain)
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • A current criminal reference check (completed under vulnerable sector service) provided upon a conditional offer of employment and deemed satisfactory by Wesway 

Availability

Respite is provided at variable times, including days, evenings and weekends. Respite Workers are matched with families according to the worker's abilities, experience, availability and the needs of the families.

  • What types of experience you have working with people with special needs
  • If you have access to a vehicle
  • Certification and training that you possess
