Wesway is a local, non-profit organization which provides personalized respite services for families who are caring for a family member with a disability or chronic health condition. Wesway offers a dynamic team-oriented work environment and we are currently seeking applicants for the following position:

Respite Worker #RW-EX19

Wesway is seeking a respite worker to support an 8-month-old girl who has Cerebral Palsy. She has a G-Tube for feeding and has had some seizures in the past. The Respite Worker will be required to interact with educational toys, to keep the participant stimulated during the day. Respite would involve feeding, going for walks, laundry, and bathing. The family will provide all the required training. The caregiver currently works from home and will be available during the hours of respite. The family home is rural, and a vehicle will be required for the purpose of work.

Starting Wage Range: $19.42 – $20.85 per hour  (plus 17.5% in lieu of benefits)


The successful candidate will possess:

  • Experience working with young children.
  • Previous experience supporting people with a disability or chronic health condition (volunteer, work-related, education or life experiences)
  • Experience supporting a young child with a complex medical condition.
  • Positive attitude and dependability
  • Respect for each individual’s strengths, abilities and personal choice
  • Current CPR and First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, as respite will take place out in the community.
  • A current criminal reference check (completed under vulnerable sector service) provided upon a conditional offer of employment and deemed satisfactory by Wesway.
  • Reliable vehicle for work. 

Hours of Work

Number of Hours per week: 27

Monday 11:30 am-5 pm, Tuesday 9am-5pm, Thursday 11:30 am-5 pm and Friday 9am-5pm
